Adelaide Oval
The Adelaide Oval is just to the north of the
Torrens River and is used mainly for cricket. It is regarded
as one of the world's prettiest large cricket grounds.
Tours are available from the South Gate at 10:00 on Tuesdays
and Thursdays, and at 14:00 on Sundays during the summer.
Indy 500 Racetrack
Adelaide used to stage the Australian Grand
Prix, but that was moved to Melbourne, so Adelaide has
now instituted an annual Indy 500 type race. Much of
the circuit is on ordinary streets to the east of the
city area, and the remainder is on park land there, running
onto the Victoria Park Racecourse.
